Jad is a passionate social entrepreneur with a vision of achieving and supporting gender equality during his lifetime.

Jad is the Founder and CEO of Pedaru, a for-profit Social Venture that is innovating the bicycle sharing business model in Japan while providing support to various Non-Profit Organizations, and the Co-Founder and CTO of Veggino, a startup in Tokyo that is bringing the plant-based lifestyle to Japan by raising awareness among both consumers and businesses.

Jad was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1989. He holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (received with Distinction) from Concordia University, Montreal where he demonstrated outstanding leadership capabilities, sustained voluntary action and an inspiring attitude allowing him to receive the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal in 2012. He also holds an MBA from INSEAD in 2017 during which he was an active leader in the INSEAD Women in Business Club, encouraging more men on campus to take an active role in promoting gender equality.

He worked in the aviation industry (flight simulation and pilot training) from 2012 to 2016, initially performing engineering related tasks before moving on to Business Development with a focus on Canada and Japan/South Korea.

Following his graduation from INSEAD in 2017, Jad decided to start his entrepreneurial journey by moving to Japan and launching his social venture Pedaru in July 2018, and then co-founding Veggino in November 2018.

Jad is actively involved in the startup world, writing philosophy and about stoicism through his personal website, and regularly volunteering with not-for-profit organizations in Japan, Singapore and Canada. Jad is also strongly promoting and supporting gender equality in Japan & overseas.
