Rémi Hémeryck is an agricultural economist and has been the Executive Director of SOS SAHEL since 2002. He joined the organisation in 1997 as Technical Director.

For more than 20 years, Rémi has contributed his expertise to SOS SAHEL’s evolution and development, solidifying the organisation as an international expert in food security now working with more than 1.000 local partners throughout the entire Sahel region. Accompanying this evolution, Rémi created a social enterprise model linked to SOS SAHEL’s mission.

From 2002 to 2007, Rémi served as Vice President of EURONAID, the first European network on food security.

Rémi frequently lectures at conferences on topics related to food security, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, adaptation to climate change and women’s empowerment among corporates and international organisation, such as the African Union, the European Union, the United Nations, the World Bank, and other organisation worldwide.

Rémi received his Master’s degree in Agroeconomy from Panthéon-Sorbonne University. As part of his specialization in agricultural development, Rémi studied the economics of the dairy industry. He continued with Executive Education in Organisational Leadership from Syracuse University and Social Entrepreneurship and Finance for Executives from INSEAD.
