Edwina Sharrock
Edwina is a Cartier Women’s Initiative alumnus who has successfully exited her company. Edwina now spends her time sharing her knowledge as a non-executive board member, business coach and angel investor. Edwina is passionate about sharing her experience with other founders and to increase investment into female led for purpose companies.
Edwina Sharrock OAM is an Australian midwife, entrepreneur, and advocate dedicated to improving maternal health and regional healthcare. With more than 18 years of experience in nursing and midwifery, she founded Birth Beat in 2012 to address the challenges rural families face in accessing quality childbirth education. The company evolved from in-person classes in Tamworth into a leading online digital health technology platform.
Edwina’s leadership has earned widespread recognition, including the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2021, Telstra NSW Small Business Woman of the Year, inclusion in the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence, and finalist recognition in the Cartier Women’s Initiative. She also received the Commonwealth Bank Innovation Award and secured investment on Shark Tank.
After successfully exiting Birth Beat in 2023 to Device Technologies, Edwina continues to influence healthcare and entrepreneurship. She serves as deputy chair of the Hunter New England & Central Coast Primary Health Network, co-chairs the Telstra Regional Advisory Council, and is a non-executive director of the Sisterhood Foundation. She supports women-led ventures globally through initiatives such as SheEO and angel investing and works as an executive coach to help founders scale their enterprises, promoting gender equity and improved outcomes for women and families.
