Magali is an impact investor passionate about advancing gender equality. Born and raised in Mexico City, she understands the challenges Latin America faces given the prevalent inequalities and social norms that perpetuate them. She's committed to supporting impact entrepreneurs that aim to have a transformational change in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Magali Lamyin is Managing Partner at Deetken Impact, where she oversees business development, impact management, and communications for multiple investment funds. She co-leads the strategic development of new funds, including one at the intersection of climate and gender equality, and actively participates in investment decisions as a member of the Investment Committee, ensuring integration of social and environmental impact metrics, risks, and opportunities.
She manages the implementation of impact measurement and reporting frameworks across all funds and builds capacity among team members and portfolio companies in areas of gender equity, sustainability, and social and environmental impact. Magali has led initiatives to advance gender practices in Latin America and the Caribbean through technical assistance, knowledge dissemination, and capacity-building projects. She also drives communications and branding strategies to amplify the impact of investee companies and strengthen the regional gender lens investing ecosystem.
Magali holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from ITAM in Mexico and a Master’s in Economics from the University of British Columbia. Deetken Impact, based in Vancouver with a distributed team across five countries in Latin America, manages US$150 million in four impact funds, supporting businesses that contribute meaningfully to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and advancing inclusive and gender-conscious investment practices.
