Maria del Carmen Correa Cabris is the chief executive officer of Pro Mujer, a social enterprise advancing gender equality across Latin America by providing underserved women with entrepreneurial education, financial services, and health support. She has over 30 years of experience in operational management, strategic planning, and program execution focused on sustainable development.

With extensive experience in operational leadership and program execution, Carmen Correa has served Pro Mujer since 2017, first as Vice President and COO and now as CEO. Under her leadership, the organization continues to expand financial inclusion, deliver health and well-being services, and provide skill-building opportunities to underserved women across Latin America.

Carmen brings more than 30 years of experience in sustainable development across the region. Prior to Pro Mujer, she led initiatives at the National Agency for Research and Innovation in Uruguay to develop financing instruments for venture capital and accelerators, and served as Program Director at Fundación Avina Uruguay, guiding inclusive market strategies. She also held senior positions at Endeavor Uruguay, DeRemate.com, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Organization of American States.

She currently serves on multiple boards and advisory committees, including 2X Global, the Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures, Socialab Uruguay, and the EC-America Program at Columbia University. A recognized leader, Carmen was named one of Google.org’s Leaders to Watch in 2023 and one of Forbes 50 Over 50 Global Change Makers in 2025. She holds a B.S. in Management from National Louis University and completed executive programs at Georgetown University, Harvard Kennedy School, Johns Hopkins University, USDA, and ESADE/ORT.
